Derek Schubert is a licensed California landscape architect and civil engineer. His engineering background gives him a strong technical foundation for landscape architecture, especially in grading, stormwater / hydrological design, and structural details.  Derek volunteers as the technical advisor for the Sierra Club Tree Team (an organization that plants trees on public land in Oakland) and serves as president of SAVE International (a group of planners, designers, and scientists dedicated to preserving the endangered Black-faced Spoonbill). An avid bicycle commuter and traveler, he rode coast-to-coast across the United States on a solo tour in the summer of 2014.
