Landscape Architect, Full-Time or Part-Time Position

Bay Tree Design is a vibrant, award-winning, women-owned, 6-person East Bay firm with a diverse range of projects. We are a design- and research-oriented practice with a reputation for advancing spaces that are designed for children, the elderly, and vulnerable populations. In addition to creating spaces for people our work is focused on sustainability and climate resiliency. We see these two - healthy people and a healthy environment - linked. We work with innovative Architects and sub-consultants and use forward-looking materials and systems.   • Master planning for climate resiliency with a San Mateo and San Carlos School District.

  • Rehabilitation of former Coast Guard facilities to serve as affordable housing in West Marin.

  • The development of a non-profit farm and educational center in North Richmond.

  • An aging in place campus with two non-profits in Pleasant Hill.

  • Design and community engagement for a culturally significant plaza in Oakland.

  • Several public-school and private school projects throughout the SF Bay Area.

  • Climate resiliency and trees studies for CSU Maritime campus and EBRPD.

  • Design guidelines for a non-profit and OUSD.

  • Facilities in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park.

  • Retreat center for a non-profit in Marin County.

  • Several affordable housing projects throughout the SF Bay Area.

  • Select single family residential projects that fit our expertise.

We typically work in collaborative teams of two or more people each with specific roles and responsibilities on individual projects. We are looking for a self-starting project landscape architect to work on projects from pre-design through construction phase.  Work can be with hybrid office team or fully remote.

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree in landscape architecture from an accredited landscape architecture program

  • 3-7 years of experience in landscape architecture offices

  • Strong design skills

  • Ability to research, problem solve, and iterate design solutions

  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch-up, and Adobe Suite

  • Strong organizational, writing, and interpersonal skills

  • Experience preparing construction documents and details

  • Experience working with California building codes

  • Experience in consultant coordination

  • Experience in children's landscapes or interest in them a plus

  • Experience on community-serving projects is a plus

  • LEED accreditation, green design experience is a plus

  • Proficiency in rendering is a plus

  • Licensure or progress toward licensure
