Point Reyes Station Neighborhood + Community Hub

BTD, as part of a collaborative team, is working with the West Marin community to re-imagine the former Coast Guard Housing as an affordable neighborhood of new homes and a community 'backyard'. The site, which is located within walking distance of Point Reyes Station's downtown, and surrounded by Lagunitas Creek, seasonal wetlands, and grassy knolls, will be revitalized as a local net zero and climate resilient neighborhood and hub.

Through a series of bi-lingual community meetings conducted on site, the team created a welcoming space for discussion. Site opportunities were framed within the context of sustainability, ecological systems, equity, and urban design notions such as shared streets.

Next steps for the project include building on the ideas expressed by the community and working with the County to develop a plan that bridges the participants’ hopes and dreams with planning considerations.

We provided support to Community Facilitator Dana Pepp and CLAM, wo organized the community process.
