Portola Valley Residence

This modern country house and garden is situated in Portola Valley with a series of outdoor rooms and sweeping views. BAY TREE DESIGN collaborated with the client and contractor to refine and infill a recently completed garden to graciously connect the spaces, provide places of respite, integrate features to foster play opportunities for their children, and expand the seating areas throughout the garden as illustrated on the plan.

Working with wood, concrete, stone, and a metal palette BAY TREE DESIGN created an intimate space adjacent to the family room with raised beds for growing edibles and cut flowers, expanded the area around the pool, developed social spaces for seasonal comfort, and integrated soccer, basketball, and connections to a designated play area to the house and garden.
